About the Race

This event serves to congratulate Detachment 640’s soon to be 2nd Lieutenants on a great four years here at Miami and wish them luck as they prepare to enter the world’s best air force. As 2nd Lieutenants in the US Air Force, these young men and women will wear golden bars, commonly known as butter bars, when they commission on their graduation day this spring.

We would like to invite everyone to participate and show their support for the nations future Air Force leaders. The race fee goes toward the race T-Shirt and as well as a challenge coin (a traditional military medallion to show membership of a particular grouping and to build morale). The difference in cost will go towards our Cadet Activity Fund, which is funded only by ROTC cadets. These funds are used to help pay for additional training activities and leadership development opportunities. The run itself is also an opportunity for ROTC cadets to be an active part of the Miami and Oxford communities, as well as to allow our family and friends to be involved in our ROTC experience. The course of this run will go through the Miami University campus as well as parts of Oxford, Ohio. We would like to invite and encourage runners, joggers and walkers of all ages to come out, participate and show their support!

Where: In front of Millett Hall, Miami University

When: April 27th, 2013

We encourage you to invite anyone interested to join us for the Butter Bar Run.
